About Sookdal
Located at 9448 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92844, Sookdal operates as a korean bbq serving Garden Grove in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as pork belly barbeque restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Garden Grove, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 4:30 pmβ12 am. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (714) 590-1588. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, sookdal.com.
Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 416 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded korean bbq in Garden Grove.
Garden Grove is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Garden Grove follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Stand out spot for higher end KBBQ. Aged pork belly is the winner of the menu here. With it you get a large variety of pickles, salad and sauces to pair with the meat. Rice is included but upon request. Staff is attentive and skillful, will cook the meat for you. Ordering Γ la carte comes out to about $30 per meat dish but they have combos.

Delicious korean bbq with great service!! Although some of the staff arenβt the most talkative, they still got the job done and provided us with everything we needed. For this kbbq, the staff cooks the meat for you, so if youβre worried about cooking your own meat, there is no need to. There was a constant flow of customers as well, and the staff did a great job with keeping that flow efficient.

The quality of the pork belly was excellent, and the service of having the staff grill the meat for us made the experience very comfortable. The variety of pickled side dishes was impressive and paired perfectly with the meat. Both the doenjang-jjigae and kimchi-jjigae were absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself was spacious and very clean. One thing I wish was that the staff could have been a bit friendlier, but overall, if youβre looking for authentic Korean-style pork BBQ, Iβd definitely recommend this place.

If you like fresh pork bbq Korean style this is one of the best. It rivals the bbq shops in Busan which serve the best pork combo sets in Korea. We ordered the $97 set which serves 3-4 people. Best cuts are the pork belly, pork jawl, pork butt and thinly sliced beef brisket.Another plus for this location is that the servers grill the meats for you. There are occasions when you are forced to cook on your own and then you burn the meat to charcoal black⦠so this place has the proper service that many Korean restaurants do not offer anymore. Parking might be limited in this small strip mall parking lot. I am sure you will find street parking near by if the place gets busy.

We ordered 1 Combo C and an additional serving of aged pork which cost us ~$138 with tax included for 4 people so I would say that it is not too expensive as the fat fill your stomach quite fast. Customer service is good, waiting time is not too bad compared to other Korean BBQ restaurants (waited ~30 minutes). I LOVE their onion salad! The sauce is just so good that I think this restaurant has the best one. The kimchi tofu soup is good too, just that it has too much oil/fat on top, otherwise, the taste is perfect. The side dishes are good too. Pork jowl is really good, I think I like it the most among all the meat that come from Combo C. The parking lot might be a big problem if you come during peak time Anyway, definitely recommend this place!
